Description
Importing media in a new local instance is useful:
- mass importing when media already available locally
- debugging

Thanks for this enhancement request - sorry it hasn't had a timely response.
MediaGoblin has command-line commands addmedia and batchaddmedia as of version 0.7.0 (August 2014). This seems to be what you're asking for here. Unfortunately your Gitorious repository is no longer available, so I'm not able to investigate the suggestion further.
I'll close this ticket, but please don't hesitate to chime in if there's anything else.
