Titles on mediagoblin.org could use improvement
|
|
Jef van Schendel
|
| Description |
The HTML titles for pages by MediaGoblin, the software, are shown
as:
- [useful_description] -- GNU MediaGoblin
For example:
- My favourite picture -- GNU MediaGoblin
- schendje's profile -- GNU MediaGoblin
Which makes sense.
But the titles on mediagoblin.org are a bit strange:
- Homepage: MediaGoblin:: GNU MediaGoblin
- News page: MediaGoblin
- Join page: MediaGoblin:: Join the GNU MediaGoblin community
- Tour page: MediaGoblin:: GNU MediaGoblin: the tour
So in some cases there's duplication, in others it could use a
better description and in almost all of these, GNU MediaGoblin
could be moved to the end like we do with the software.
I'm assuming some of these are residue from the previous blog
theme, and that the News page is generated differently, which is
why its title is the odd one out.
It'd be nice if we could improve these. :)

Option to stay logged in

| Description |
Users don't stay logged in after leaving a MediaGoblin site. There
is no option to stay logged in (via cookies, or whatever the best
way to do this is).

Forgot-password process has too many pages
|
|
Jef van Schendel
|
| Description |
- After clicking "Send instructions" on the "Recover password"
page, the user is sent to a new page that says "Check your inbox.
We sent an email with a URL for changing your password."
- This should not be a new page. It could simply go back to the
log in page (where the user came from) and use the messaging system
to notify the user.
- I propose we slightly change the wording of the message. "Check
your inbox" sounds slightly rude, and the acronym URL should not be
used. Instead, maybe say: "An email has been sent with instructions
on how to change your password." The word instructions is also
consistent with the "Send instructions" button the user just
pressed.
2.
After clicking "Set password" on the "Set your new password" page,
the user is sent to a new page that says "Your password has been
changed. Try to log in now."
- Again, this should not be a new page. It should go to the log in
page and use the messaging system to show a notification. This way
the user can go
- Also, I propose we change the wording here too. I think "Try to
log in now" is a bit blunt, leave it out or change the whole thing
to "You can now log in with your new password."?
