The original bug's description: "Currently there is no indication of the original’s file size or dimensions."

I'm not sure why this is an issue. If you want an indication of the image's original size, click on the "medium image" and it'll open the original. If you want more detailed information, your browser will be able to show it.

If we had a "Download original" button, we could show the original file's size and dimensions somewhere near that button, as an indication. But we don't need that button, because you can download the original by clicking on the "medium image".

Say you've got a MediaGoblin instance where this is important information that you'd like to show, then that's cool. But this feature sounds like a perfect job for a plugin.

Replying to schendje:

Except when it takes hours to download the image, or hangs together with the whole OS by eating up all the RAM. The image could be tens or hundreds of megabytes in size.

I agree with schendje's assessment that this should be a plugin. I've tagged this as "plugin". Would be a good one to test our new plugin system on, if anyone is interested in taking this on! If so, they should talk to me or willkg.
